Voltz JT

Voltz JT, whose real name is Nkosilathi Sibiya, is a 25-year-old Zimbabwean hip-hop artist known for pioneering the “jecha trap” sound – a fusion of drill music and the Shona language.

Voltz JT was born in 1999 in Chitungwiza and attended Sanyati Baptist High School. He later studied electronic telecommunications at the University of Zimbabwe, graduating in 2022.

Voltz JT recorded his first song “Boys Rangu” in 2016 and has since released two EPs – “Power Moves” (a joint project with Kerposh) and “Mayhem and Modies” in 2021.[1][2] He rose to fame with his viral hit “These Days”, which showcased his socially conscious lyrics and popularized the jecha trap genre.

Voltz JT’s musical style is influenced by UK drill music, as well as artists like Jay-Z, Kevin Gates, and the late Oliver Mtukudzi. He is known for his ability to capture emotions and experiences through his songwriting.

In addition to his solo work, Voltz JT has collaborated with other prominent Zimbabwean artists like Holy Ten and Nutty O. He has received several awards and nominations, including the Best Newcomer award at the 2020 Zim Hip Hop Awards.
