ZIMBABWE’S comedy royalty Mukudzei “King Kandoro” Majoni will headline the highly anticipated Shoko Comedy Night at this year’s landmark 15th edition of Shoko Festival, set for Thursday, September 25 at Harare Gardens.
The 33-year-old comedian, has been on a history making spree over the years, he is the first Zimbabwean comedian to sell out the 3,500-seater Celebration Centre in December 2024.
King Kandoro’s remarkable journey from local stages to continental prominence includes selling out Reps Theatre in 2019 and the 7 Arts Theatre in 2021 with his Prodigal Son Tour. His appearance at Shoko marks a triumphant homecoming during his birthday month, which is the day after his performance at the Comedy night.
“King Kandoro is an example of that legacy as he grew his comedy career through platforms created by Magamba TV and Shoko and is now one of Zimbabwe’s biggest comedians,” said Festival Director Samm Farai Monro, popularly known as Comrade Fatso.
“He returns triumphantly to Shoko as a headliner and this shows our commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists in Zimbabwe who speak truth to power.”
