Justine Wanda is a stand-up comedian, writer, and satirist based in Nairobi. She’s proficient in dark and observational humor and even opened for Award- Winning Comedian Hannibal Buress in 2018, only a year into the scene. Justine has quickly risen through Nairobi’s budding stand-up scene having appeared on Showmax’s Roast House and has a headliner special on Showmax’s Comedy Riot both created by Eugene Mbugua.
She’s sharpened her skill by performing at the critically-acclaimed Kenyan Improv show Because You Said So! and prominent stand-up comedy shows/clubs such as Standup Collective, Spare My Ribs, Nairobi Comedy Club, and Punchline Comedy Club. She’s a comedy writer with correspondent credits on The Fareed Khimani Show and wrote for News By The Catalyst too, a satire web talk show hosted by Muthoni Maingi.
Through collaborations with Buni Media and Magamba TV from Zimbabwe, she’s scripted satirical pieces on a wide range of topics from election misinformation and disinformation and macro/microeconomics across the African continent. Justine created and hosts her own political satire show, Fake Woke With Justine, aimed at educational humor and critical dissection of the Kenyan/African political, economic, social, and cultural world.
