GREEN CITIES EXPO 2025

As part of Shoko Festival’s 15-year legacy, the Green Cities Expo returns with its boldest vision yet — RECLAIM OUR FUTURE. This year, creatives, activists, policymakers, and the public will gather to reimagine greener, just cities powered by renewable energy and people-centered solutions.

ABOUT GREEN CITIES EXPO

The Green Cities Expo is more than an event; it's a movement to RECLAIM OUR FUTURE. This is a dynamic hub of imagination and rebellion where the future is not inherited—it’s built. We unite youth, artists, and communities to build greener, just cities from the ground up. Experience the emotional power of the Climate Memorial, confront injustice with leading energy activists in the 'Power to the People' panel, and get hands-on in the Creative Resistance Pavilion. Through defiant poetry, sharp satire, and collective action, we are shaping a sustainable, people-powered world.

Highlights include the moving Climate Memorial powered by ActionAid, a fiery Poetry Slam with voices from across Africa, and the Power to the People Panel featuring Dean Bhebhe (Power Shift Africa), Katlego Malesa (SCMAC), Thato Gabaitse (We, The World), Lorraine Chiponda (GGON), and Frank Mphalo (Green Governance Africa). The Creative Resistance Pavilion will showcase renewable energy demos, eco-fashion, cosplay, upcycling art, exhibitions, and the Kick Polluters Out digital zone.

Expect vibrant performances from Pandaz Dance Crew, Shebeen Duo, Dingo Duke, Dough Major, Bhanshee, SKII the Artist, and more, alongside pop-up skateboarding showcases and a Fireside Chat with Tafadzwa Gwini. Adding satire to resistance, Kenyan comedian Justine Wanda will deliver an Ignite Talk on comedy as a tool for climate justice.

The Green Cities Expo proves that the future is not inherited — it is built. Join us as we reclaim our future and demand a just transition for Africa’s cities.
