Divine Dube

Divine Dube is a dynamic news leader with over a decade of experience in the media and journalism industry. He has held diverse roles, spanning reporting, editorial, and newsroom management positions across public, community, and private media sectors. Divine has also served as a print journalism instructor at a local college in Zimbabwe, mentoring and guiding aspiring journalists.
He completed a year-long Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University, where he researched models for building sustainable hyperlocal news ventures. Divine also studied Entrepreneurial Journalism at the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at the City University of New York and pursued a Data Journalism fellowship at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. Currently, he is a Journalism Leadership and Innovation scholar at the University of Central Lancashire.
As the director of the Zimbabwe Centre for Media and Information Literacy (ZCMIL), Divine has spearheaded groundbreaking news ventures, including The Citizen Bulletin, an award-winning hyperlocal news outlet in Matabeleland, and The Republic, a nascent nationwide news initiative focused on long-form accountability and data-driven journalism. He also leads the annual Africa Journalism & Media Summit, ZCMIL’s premier conference that convenes industry leaders from Zimbabwe and across Africa to discuss emerging journalism issues and foster collaboration.
Additionally, Divine coordinates Innovate360, a program designed to empower journalists with the skills and tools they need to drive strategic decision-making, foster innovation, and implement operational change within their news organizations. His interests include reader revenue models, venture design, and managing innovation. In his spare time, he assists nascent and established newsrooms in navigating digital transformation and finding their North Star.
