PROFESSOR NEHEMIAH CHIVANDIKWA
Professor Nehemiah Chivandikwa is the former chairperson of the department of theatre arts- now known as the department of Creative Media and Communication. He holds a PhD in development communication from the University of Zimbabwe. He has published several articles in both regional and international journals in these areas. His major researches, focus on applied media development communication with a particular emphasis on theatre, television, participatory video and community radio. Professor Chivandikwa has a particular interest in audience studies /reception of political theatre and radio/television programs on politics in East and Southern Africa, more broadly, and Zimbabwe specifically. He researches on how structural factors (socio-political organizations), impact on the production and reception of media and theatre productions. In the past three years, professor Chivandikwa has convened Media Against Phobias conferences, with a focus on East and Southern Africa, as well as Media and Crisis Communication Workshops.
