In light of the Covid19 pandemic, it is only befitting that Zimbabwe’s biggest annual new mediaand journalism event, The Hub UnConference at Shoko Festival goes virtual on its 8th edition. This year the programming will be over 6 days with bite sized sessions scheduled throughout the duration of the conference. You can look forward to Women Create World Summit , The Podcast Festival, Lighting Talks, discussions on new digital trends and legislations as well virtual masterclasses. In our bid to keep innovating and bringing relevant conversations this Hub UnConference will bring debut sessions such as Video Indaba, Mayor’s Indaba, Zim Hip Hop Awards MasterClass and the 1st edition of the Satire convention. The annual Hub Awards will award innovative cutting edge initiatives that address community problems through digital media and civic technology. Since the awards began they have provided a lifeline to over 2 start ups in Zimbabwe. These include Urban Xulture, Afro Tokyo, Bustop TV, Road Rules, Girls Speak Out, TV Yangu, Spiked and Zim Girls Code. This year’s edition has USD4000 to be split among four categories:

An award for the best upcoming individual blog, video blog or citizen journalism platform.
An award for the best new media/ tech solution to address poor service delivery in communities.
