Dough Major

Dough Major is a multi Zim hip hop award winning, Zima and Star FM awards multi nominated rapper, singer, songwriter and Record Executive. He was born and raised in Tynwald, Harare and gained recognition as a rapper after his first project Sheeben Rap Papa EP birthing a new sound, a sub genre called Shebeen Rap. 

Shebeen Rap 

Shebeen Rap is a Hip-Hop sub genre that fuses southern afropop, funk, kwaito and rap but is loved by many because of it’s party atmosphere in situations of despair.

Achievements

In 2016 he co-founded a Record Label, Roman Rap Studios together with Lloyd Soul and Boy Tricky creating a hub for breakthrough artists, videographers and dancers. His first piece of music recognition came with winning the Bata Mic Rap Battles at Moto Replubik back to back in 2020. Recognition increased notably in 2021 with the release of his debut album Shebeen Rap Papa Vol 2. Some of its peaks were being playlisted several times at the men T20 ICC World Cup in Australia. The album got him his first streak of nominations at several award shows around the country eventually leading him to scoop the Best Alternative artist at the Zim Hip-hop awards in 2021. The most recent gong in Dough Major’s cabinet is the Best Hip-hop group award for 2023, a reward for his partnership with fellow Shebeen rapper Dingo Duke for their critic acclaimed masterpiece album, From Shebeenia, With Love.
